TPS54560B: COMP pin and short circuit current setting

Part Number: TPS54560B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54560

We are doing short-circuit output testing of our TPS54560. Under load, we measure roughly 10 amps when TPS54560 goes into constant current mode.

We can't figure out in the datasheet how to change the components on the COMP pin to lower the short circuit current - we want 5 or 6A not 10A.

When it runs at 10A, the catch diode gets hot and starts to smoke.

How can we lower the short circuit output?

Attached is the image from webench that we used to design our circuit.

 Thanks!

  • Hello Jigger,

Unfortunately, you cannot change the short circuit current in these parts. Comp pin is used for compensating the Type II controller inside the IC, you can check section 8.2.2.11 in the datasheet to understand more about the compensation.
