Compressor driver in the air conditioner

Hi team,

I have noticed that IPM has win in the Air conditioner which is used in driving the compressor . So I have some question for that:

1. What kind of spec of the IPM would the customer care in such application in the air conditioner?

2. Does TI has any solution for driving the compressor or  BLDC fan module in the air conditioner? if yes, what's the advantage of this solution comparing with the IPM solution?

Could you please answer my question generally?

I will appreciate your answer.

Best Regards,

Wesley Huang

  • Hi Wesley,

We are having some difficulty in identifying which product line your question is addressed to. Can you provide the part number that you found for this WIN? That would help to make sure it is routed to the right place?

[I am from Integrated Power Management (IPM), which I am fairly confident is not the IPM you were referencing].

  • Hi Kevin,

For example, I have identified the competitor like FNA41560,IFCM30T65GD and TPD4144K in the air conditioner which is used to drive the compressor.

Does TI has any solution, if yes, what's our Highlight and lowlight. You can answer my question generally.

  • Hi Wesley,

Thank you for the follow up. We have assigned the post to the Industrial Systems SEM team to follow up as I am not familiar with these topics. They manage the pages like this one which may be relevant: http://www.ti.com/solution/air-conditioner-outdoor-unit

[Looking at the block diagram, I do not see any processor like Sitara / Xilinx / NXP, but if you see such processor where PMIC solutions can help, I can provide help in that area
