TPS3808: VOL and IOL specification for RESET output pin

Genius 17295 points
Part Number: TPS3808

Hello,

I have two questions related to TPS3808 VOL specification.

1)

The datasheet specifies that VOL MAX is 0.4V when 1.8V<VDD<6.5V with IOL=1mA condition.
From Figure 8 graph, this condition should be actually VDD=1.8V case because it shows lower voltage means higher VOL.
Then my customer would like to know maximum IOL value for 0.4V VOL under VDD=3.3V and 5V condition Are these value available?
They want guaranteed value, not just reference.

2)

If 1) is not available, I have another question for IBIS model.

TPS3808 ibis model is available on the TI web site and I checked it.
There are VI characteristic data of RESET output pin with VDD=3.3V and 5V case. And it has all typ/min/max data.
I think I can calculate IOL max for 0.4V VOL for each VDD by using this data.
But my question is that is this data enough reliable? What do MIN and MAX mean in this ibis model?  Where do these ibis data come from? Is it from just a design simulator?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba,

    1) We don't guarantee these values in our datasheets for these specific conditions. You can extrapolate from the graph, but we cannot guarantee.

    2) We characterize the IBIS models from values we receive that we also use in our datasheets. I would suggest using actual data you produce in a lab over taking teh IBIS models as fact. this IOL max could vary and is not guarantee-able.

    Thanks,
    Abhinav.
