BQ27542-G1: Not getting the correct data After golden image flashing

Part Number: BQ27542-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi team,

We had learning cycle and generated the golden image. That file contain the following three files

1.DFFS

2.BQfS

3.SREC

Did flash srec file successfully using BQstudio.

But still battery percentage showing 0% even though  battery has 3.9-4.2V.

Please let me know why it is showing incorrect percentage ?

Please do needful.

  • Please share with us your srec file. Thanks.

  • 6102.Final.zip Andy,

    Thanks for your reply.

Here i am attaching Srec, DFFS and BQFS  file .

  • I see the Update Staus is 04 in the srec file you uploaded.

During the learning cycle, can you confirm that the update status changed from 04 to 05 and finally to 06?

  • Hi andy,

I completely agree with you .

What if update status is not increasing ? That status is updating automatically.

Can we set manually? if yes then How ?

    One more question;

Chemid generation done on same battery by the following step.

    1.charge C/100,

    2.relax more than 2 hrs

    3. discharge by C/10

    4. relax more than 7 hrs.

To perform the learning cycle first two steps are discharge and relax . for this i need to charge again ?

or skip those first two step ?

    Please reply ASAP

  • Hello Vishal,

Make sure to check the RUP_DIS bit. Also you need to run this for two cycles for a Qmax update.

That should get you Qmax update, but you need to send IT_ENABLE command.

  • Yes we did the same .

In our case our FC bit was not set  and RUP_DIS bit set after half discharge.

Can  you please answer the learning cycle step which i mentioned in the above one ?

  • Hi Team,

Can we have a call in which we shall discuss all these issues?

I would like to understand if the FC bit was not set automatically due to charging voltage what we set in BQstudio was not in range of 100mV from the max Voltage, then the whole Learning cycle may fail?

After generating the Golden image when we downloaded on the new unit then we are seeing 0% SoC only. Is this the correct behavior even though the Learning cycle may have some differences?

Observed the following anomalies while performing the Learning Cycle:

During charging [FC] bit did not get set for detecting full charge condition.

During the discharge cycle [RUP_DIS] got set, which ideally should not be set.

Update Status Register did not change from 04 to 05 during relax after a full charge. It also did not change from 05 to 06 during discharge relax.

Initially, logs were not Auto Exporting during the charging cycle.

During charging initially [VOK] bit was not set, however, after applying some kick, it suddenly got set during the charging cycle.

The term Voltage value we set was 3000mV but we need to change to 3100mV.

Generated the first Golden Image after the Learning Cycle with Chemid - 2093 and below configuration parameters.

    Design Capacity - 12000 mAH
    Design Voltage - 3700 mV
Charge Term Taper Current - 400 mA
Discharge Current Threshold - 60 mA
Charge Current Threshold - 75 mA
    Quit Current - 40 mA
    Term Voltage - 3000 mV
    Design Energy - 4440 mWh
    Design Energy Scale - 10
    V at the termination - 4200 mV

Please let us know your feedback on this.

  • The learning cycle is different from the chem id identification.

You need to follow the steps mentioned in the follow app note.  Each step has to be followed carefully and also make sure every important event we mentioned occur accordingly. The Update Status has to be updated only by the gauge.5468.Achieving the Successful Learning Cycle.pdf
