TPS63070: USB reset when PCB Board connected to USB port.

Part Number: TPS63070

Dear TI,

My design contained TPS63070, design is here https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/767694.

The TPS63070 is powering RFPA. The TPS63070 input is 4.8V and 500mA, (standard USB port)

1. PCB board is connected to laptop standard USB port, and when RFPA (radio freq power amp) is on, USB ports resets, this can be seen from Device manager, the COM Port keep cycling.

2. When RFPA is off, there is no issue.

3. Using same USB port, when powering RFPA not using TPS63070 but directly from USB port, no USB reset. occur. Its only when TPS63070 powering the RFPA has this issue.

4. And when the board connected to hub (RFPA powered from TPS63070) (maybe the hub supplying larger current) no USB port reset occur

The RFPA only drawing 30mA and need 5V for operation.

Question:

1. Why USB 500mA port resets when RFPA is on via TPS63070?. and not when USB power RFPA directly.

2. The TPS63070 I suppose able to operate with 500mA input when the output is designed for 1A since the load is only 30mA. Or is this an issue?

3. Is this related to transient spike in current for buck mode. Datasheet didn't mention anything on input current vs output current.

4.  The inductor 1.5uH has clicking sound when RFPA is on, is this related to buck mode. Is this common?

5. No heating, or circuit warm/hot. The RFPA able to deliver intended output power even when USB port resets.

Thank you for your support.
