BQ78350-R1: High side control in BQ78350

Hi,

Is there a reference design available for bq-78350 with high side control implemented? We need the charge and discharge MOSFETs to be connected to the PACK+ line instead of PACK-.

If you can provide a reference schematic/circuit diagram with bq78350 to implement the above functionality, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the link.

Our application is a 4S cell system, with battery voltage 14.4V.

1. Can we implement high side control for this system using the bq76200 high side driver along with bq76920 and bq78350?

2. Also what will be the power consumption of this additional driver circuitry(bq76200)? Can you give an approx. value under normal operating conditions?

Hi Arun,

1. Yes, BQ76200 will work with BQ76920 and BQ78350 with a 4 cell system. However for a 4 cell system you could use a more compact part such as the BQ4050.

2. Basic power consumption of the BQ76200 is shown in the data sheet electrical characteristic table. When the precharge or pack monitor is enabled there is a bias current for those features, see the application note http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua794. When adding load to the charge pump there is also a charge pump efficiency factor of about 5.
