Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24125,
I have a design using the BQ24125 charger with the BQ28Z610 gauge IC together in the battery pack. Our marketing team previously had agreed that the battery pack in our new instrument would be removed before charging. There are charging contacts, the PLUS side of which is not connected to the instrument.
Now, they are having second thoughts about the single-point charger where they want to use the instrument case to retain the charger clip. The charging supply is 12VDC.
My question is:
Can I use the gauge to indicate a charging condition via the I2C bus so that the instrument my turn itself off? I see many available for fail status and general battery parameter status, but not for a 'device under charge' status.
If I had known this was going to happen, I would have used a charger with a power path feature.
