TPS65400EVM-678: Vout Resolution

Part Number: TPS65400EVM-678

Hi,

I've notice when i'm changing a voltage with the GUI, the steps of Vout for every step in Vref is dependent on the voltage:

For:

Vout: 3.3V Steps of 41mv

Vout: 2.5V Steps of 31mv

Vout: 1.8V Steps of 22mv

Vout: 1.2V Steps of 15mv

Is there a way to change those resolutions to under 10mv (of course with the cost of smaller outputs voltage ranges) ?

  • Hi Lior,

This part sets the voltage reference (VREF) for the selected output. VREF values is a bit resolution of 10 mV per LSB. It is the VREF step for 10mV not the Vout step.

So for example, when the VREF changes from 0.6V to 0.61V @3.3Vout, the Vout will change from 3.3V to 3.3*0.61/0.6=3.355V which step is about 50mV. So your results are correct.

    Thanks,

    Lishuang
