Need help choosing correct components and circuit design for USB-C PD and battery management

Hello,

We are trying to create a product utilizing a 1S battery pack that will be charged using USB-C with PD. The pack will have at maximum 20Ah of capacity. We need the ability to report the battery charge remaining. We want to be able to charge the battery while the unit is running. Currently the system voltage will be 3.3V. The footprint needs to be as small as possible (of course). We also need the ability to turn off the unit with a NO momentary button.

We need help on the selection of the battery charger, fuel gauge, USB-C controller, PD controller, etc.

I have looked over these designs and they are not specific to our application. They are close, but I would like help in incorporating the correct fuel gauge, battery charger, and USB-C PD circuitry. Again we also need to provide a way to power off the system using a NO momentary button, which these reference designs do not provide.

Hi Seth,

If you're planning to use entire PD spec (20V, 5A) I'd suggest to use our BQ25713 for battery charger, BQ25713 is NVDC architecture this will allow you to charge the battery while running the unit. You can have a voltage regulator connected to Vsys (system voltage). This voltage regulator will have to regulate 3.3V.
