LP8556: I2C funtion if EN/VDDIO is driven to 0V

Part Number: LP8556

Hello,

what will happen when the EN/VDDIO pin will be driven to 0V and the host try to communicate to an other part on the same I2C bus as the LP8556.

Regards

Arno

  • Hi Aleus,

VDDIO powers the internal logical circuit, if you don't power on VDDIO correctly, it can't communicate.

  • Hi Sean,

sorry, you answer not exact to my question. It is obvious to me that if I don`t power a device it can`t interact in any way. My question was what will happen to the other devices on the same I2C-bus. Or in other words did the lp8556 have any circuit inside to isolate the I2C pins if the lp8556 isn`t under power.
An additional question is what will happen with the PWM pin, if EN/VDDIO is held on GND. Is he high resistance or did he act like a diode to ground.

    Regards

    Arno

  • Hi Arno,

         1. there is no isolate circuit inside of LP8556 which can help to remove the connection with I2C interface, but it shouldn't have an effect on the other devices when you don't power on VDDIO'

         2. if EC/VDDIO is held on GND, those pins like a diode to ground.

hope I have solved your problem. thanks.

    Regards

    Sean
