BQ28Z610: Firmware flash failed

Yesterday I was flashing this device with the 0.20 firmware using the EV2400 and bqstudio and encountered and error. The device will no longer talk to me and does not respond to I2C commands. Is there a way to force this device back into a mode I can program it in?

Try to send the 0x0F00 ROM Mode command. See Section 12.2.44 of bq28z610 TRM.

Hi Andy, the device does not acknowledge and I2C command so this will not work. I was looking for something I could do in hardware.

Richard,

There is no hardware specific action to force ROM mode. My best advice would be to remove power from the IC. Then attempt to read 0x0D on both address 0xAA and 0x16. This command is a valid command in both FW mode and ROM mode. In FW mode you will get a response on 0xAA, ROM will respond on 0x16.

If you cant communicate on both.... something is correcupted in the hardware and it cannot be recovered.

Excellent, that worked. I got a response from 0x16 and was able to program the firmware. All working now, thank you!
