BQ25895: BQ25895: how to connect OTG pin if the customer doesn't need OTG function?

Part Number: BQ25895
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25890,

Team,

Could we let this OTG pin floating if I didn't need OTG function.

We tried to connect this pin to GND. But I found the leakage current will be go higher.

That's why we are planning to let this pin floating. And need your confirmation to ensure there is no side effect.

  • Hi Beginner,

OTG is default enabled in the I2C register.  If you leave OTG floating and it floats high, OTG will turn on.  I suggest grounding OTG. If that is not feasible and you float OTG, then you must configure the firmware to disable OTG in the charger's I2C register.

BTW, how much additional leakage do you see into the OTG pin?  It should be <<<1uA.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi,

BQ25895 has OTG_CONFIG=1 (OTG Enable) by default. If OTG pin is preferred to be floating, it is better to use pin-compatible BQ25890 instead. BQ25895 has OTG_CONFIG=0 (OTG disable) by default.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
