BQ34Z100-G1: Full charge capacity

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello

I have done battery discharge according my application 7s6p with cells- INR18650-30Q

discharge from 29.4V to 19.6V.

why i get lower value of FCC then "DOD Passed Q" and "True FCC"?

I get FCC= 16.7AH

DOD Passed Q= 16.9AH

True FCC= 16.9AH

This is the first cycle after programing the golden file.

When Smooth function is enabled, the FCC adjustment is suppressed, it could be different with true FCC, the purpose is to assure RSOC tapers down to 0 smoothly without significant jump. so it is expected to see the FCC being different with TRUE FCC and DOD Passed Q

  • 1. I discharged with constant current. does the smooth function should effect on FCC in that case?

    2. i musured the capacity also with Electronic load, i measured 16.9Ah but the FCC reported 16.7AH. is it normal?

  • Hi, Avi

It is every easy to see slight TRUE FCC jump when passing across some particular DOD or SOC point, at these points, the RM and TRUE FCC would be recalculated based on Ra, I, T, OCV, etc., Since there would always be variation on the Ra value for each different time and DOD, the Recalculated TRUE FCC and RM could also be variated accordingly.

But if smoothing is enabled, after the FCC is synchronized with TRUE FCC at some particular time points, like Charge Termination, the FCC would not change afterwards if there is no big temperature change and long resting, while TRUE FCC would still update at particular DOD or SOC points, so you can see FCC and TRUE are different at the end of discharge.
