Hi,

I have tried importing the PSpice model of TPS57160-Q1 into LTspice, since I had some problems simulating the device in Webench(see other posts). However, there is a problem with the simulation. It ends up running extremely slow and I never seem to be able to finish the simulation, since the speed slows down immensely.. I tried both the encrypted and the unencrypted models, but neither work.

Does anyone have a working LTspice simulation of the device?

I have attached a simulation of the example in the datasheet(figure 51). Please let me know if you spot any mistakes or issues. Will it run on your machines?tps57160_trans.zip

Peter,

We provide spice models but we do not support debug of LTspice. You can contact LTC/ADI for support debugging LTspice. Or you can use TINA TI which provides a similar interface to LTspice.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your reply. I tried with TINA-TI and it does indeed produce a simulation, but it is *very* slow, to the point of being useless. Is this model much more complicated than other device models?

In general, LTSpice supports the same stuff that other spice simulators support, so I have my doubts as to why LTSpice should be the issue. I am wondering if this slowness is model-related or what it is that causes this very slow simulation speed. What are your thoughts on this?

Are you using the encrypted or unencrypted spice model?

Please export and share your TINA file and we will take a look.

I've exported TINA from WEBENCH using your design files (attached). It takes <5min to run an 8ms transient sim. Does this align with what you're seeing?
