BQ25895M: charging current setting and default charging current

Hi Team,

my customer is using BQ25895M as solution and have below 2 questions,

1. how to change charging current ? can it done by HW(hardware) setting?

per my check , the device's charging current can change through I2C, but not hardware setting,

since there's no pin for change the charge current.

charging current set (REG04) by I2C

2.what's the default charging current?

per d/s , the default mode charging current is 2.048A , and pre-charge current is 128mA.

please kindly help to check if my understanding is correct, thanks!

Hi Andy,

Your understanding is correct. The charge current and precharge current can only be changed by I2C register. The defaults above are current.

BQ25616 is a 3-A, standalone charger that uses resistors to set charge current.

quick double check, by your mean is that charging current can only changed by I2C register setting(REG04), and can not done by hardware setting ,

is that correct?

Hi Andy,

The charge current cannot be changed by hardware. But you can limit the input current using the ILIM pin. This will reduce SYS current and BAT current.
