Hello,
We have a customer requesting a recommendation for USB charger IC. We've recommended BQ24160A, BQ24270, BQ24163, and BQ24160 because they have DPPM and it says that this feature enables simultaneous system supply and battery charging.
Is my understanding correct that if as long as the total input current supplied to the system is enough to sustain both maximum battery charging current and load current, then there will be no decrease in the battery charging current?
Also, the battery charging current will only be decreased when the load's current demand is higher?
Thank you.
Hi Elisha,
That is correct. As long as VIN*IIN*efficiency > VSYS*ISYS+VBAT*IBAT, the charger will not need to reduce charge current to supplement the system current. All our powerpath chargers work like this. There are newer chargers that are more efficient, like BQ25611D. Just curious why you chose the BQ2416X family.
Regards,
Jeff
