Does this Battery Manager Evaluation Module comes with firmware already flashed?
HI Andy,
We purchased the BQ40Z50EVM-561 and hooked up 3 3.7V Li-ion batteries but were not able to get any voltage out at the Pack +/-.. Following the user manual we connected sys-pres to PACK - and also tried pressing the WAKE button but still couldn't read anything. Not sure if we are missing a step or if we require the EV2300. We do not have the ev2300 and were just wanting to use the board as a BMS. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
The EVM cannot simply work with any configurations. I would suggest you get an EV2400 and also download bqStudio from ti.com.
With the help of bqStudio, you can program the chemistry id to match the battery cells you are using and change other settings to fit your application. Also, a learning cycle has to be finished before the gauge device can provide accurate SOC readings.
