Hello,

We are having an issue with our pack that is using the BQ20Z65 device. The device is setup to go to sleep and we are seeing occasions when the device will not go to sleep. In doing some analysis we have tied the ALERT open drain pin to ground and we are wondering if we are providing a current path for the gauge. Can you comment on this ALERT pin?

Hi Jason,

Basically, a few conditions have to be met before bq20z65-r1 goes to Sleep mode. I would suggest you check if all the following conditions are met.

Yes, I understand the conditions from the technical reference manual. My question was on the alert pin and what effects you see on tying that pin to ground through a resistor.

Hello Jason,

There should be no reason for the device to go to sleep due to the ALERT pin.
