Can you further advise what is this document about, if you are starting your project, you can start from R3, attached is the TRM for your information
I want to use external balancing of four cells in series.
The bq40z50-r2 datasheet refers to SLUA420 for external cell balancing.
SLUA420 does not show how to connect the lowest cell in the stack to the bq40z50 (there are no pin numbers or labels) as it only has VC1-VC4 but there are 5 connections to the balance circuit.
I saw one 'solution' on the E2E forum (https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/748250) by Swaminathan Ramanathan75031 suggesting a PFET for Cell1 but there is no source document.
Perhaps I should not have specifically asked for sluubt5a.pdf (I saw this mentioned in various posts as the source for understanding cell balancing).
EDIT: This link is where it was suggested I needed sluubt5a.pdf: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/780128/2887327#2887327
What I need is assistance in what pins on the bq40z50 to connect the cell balancing circuit, as well as how to select the component values (swami mentions 'we found when we...' but this information has not made its way into any design appnotes).
