TLV61046A: Can I expect problems during start-up with load of 2 pcs of current output sensors?

Hello. I'd like to use this part as a power supply for 2 pcs of current output (4~20) mA sensors. The output voltage should be 18Volts, and input to be (2.3~3.6) Volts from battery. I suppose additional 10 mA consumption, i.e. total of 50 mA max . Can I expect problems during start-up?

Hi Stoian:

If you startup with load, there is a risk for fail. We have an application note to improve the loading current capability. It could help to startup. http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slvaed6/slvaed6.pdf

Besides, the additional 10mA is consumption for post circuit or for the Boost converter?

Hi Minqiu. Thx for fast reply. Additional 10 mA is for post circuit along with consumption of 2 sensors, i.e. all load is about 50mA max.

Hi Minqiu. Yes, I expect in some condition boost to start with full load of 50mA.

About application note - my design is a bit complicated than I described. I must switch output voltage in 2 steps - first is 5Volt, and seccond is 18Volt. Do you think it will startup correctly with full load of 50mA to Vout-5V?

HI Stoian:

For TLV61046, we only guarantee minimum 20mA if Vout is very low as the short current protect.

If loading after Vout reaching 5V, it's OK with typical value.
