How to configure EEPROM on BQ77910?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77910GUI-SW

I am considering using the upcoming BQ77910 as a stand-alone Li-ion protector. I was wondering what the recommended way to configure the EEPROM was. Is there a USB to I2C interface available? Also, is there a way to store configurations and quickly load onto additional ICs? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • In the bq77910 product folder, to the right of the device name is a link labeled "Alert me about changes to this product ". If you sign up there you will get a notification when various changes are made to the folder including availability.

The BQ77910GUI-SW evaluation software will allow you to configure the part. You can load it and see the menus without an interface or device installed. The software can be downloaded from its product folder, there is a link under the "tools and software" section of the device product folder. The software will communicate to the device through the USB-TO-GPIO interface adapter configured with a firmware available at

Included in the menus are "Save register file" and "Load register file" commands which will allow saving a data set to be loaded and programmed into new parts. This should be useful for duplicating prototypes or low rate production.  More details on the software operation should be in the EVM user guide when it is available.

For higher volume production the interface and algorithm is simple and it should be easy to implement in a board test system.

  • This is excellent info. Thank you very much for the help!
