BQ78350-R1: Sudden change in state of charge

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350, BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi.

We use the BQ78350 with the BQ7693000DBT for a battery of 36 V 10400 mAh  for an ebike.

Using the e-bike, in some moment the display displayed a state of charge near 50% but suddenly displayed 0%.

We could not have acces directly to the fuel gauge but the MCU that communicates with the fuel gauge give us the information that the TDA alarm, RCA alarm and RTA was active and with a state of charge of 0% but still discharging.

The voltage measure indicated 36.54 V

So, what could be the cause that the fuel gauge will suddenly send a percentage of 0% and without DSG protections?

  • The gauge device has a lot of information.  To figure out what the root cause is, I need to see very detailed data.  Otherwise what we can do is just to guess.  Are you able to connect an EV2400 to the gauge device and create a log with the help of bqStudio and share the log file with us?
