TPS61022: What is the Iq when operating at 2.8v to 4.2v with 5v out, in forced PWM mode

Part Number: TPS61022

Hi All

Customer is seeing an issue with the tps61022 and they believe it is when it switcheds from PFM to PWM. If we put the part in the above configuration, what is the expected Iq when in Foced PWM mode, no load?

Thanks

Jeff Coletti

  • Sitting here with the engineer, here is a little more info, they have the boost constantly enabled, but when they turn on a load switch which is connected to the output, they hear an audible noise.  They are going from no load to 300mA with a 10uF cap when the load switch is enabled.  I believe it is the caps but would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

  • Hi Jeff,

In forced PWM mode, TPS61022 keeps switching at 1MHz at full load range. The internal MOSFET switching loss, driving loss, conduction loss will increase the input current from the PSU. I believe customer saw the PSU input current goes high from PFM to FPWM, that's normal behavior.

For the audible noise issue, can you share the customer's schematic, layout? It will help to analyze the issue. And does customer configure it as PFM when they hear the audible noise?

  • Hi Jeff,

    Is there any new update?
