BQ25616: How to split USB bus D+/D- to connect both charger and CPU?

Part Number: BQ25616
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3USB221

Hi
I want to use BQ25616 as the charger in my system.
I have one question about the connection USB bus D+/D-.
BQ25616 will occupy D+/D- from the USB connector.
But I also want to connect D+/D- to CPU to use as a USB function.
Therefore, D+/D- have to split to connect to both CPU and BQ25616, doesn't it?
How can I split D+/D- ? By a USB switch (ex: TS3USB221) or just by a wire split?
Do you have any reference board about this function?

Best Regards
Le

  • Hi Le,

The BQ25616 only automatically uses the D+/D- lines for the first 1 s after power up.  After that, unless forced by a write to a register, the D+/D- go HiZ.  Many customers simply connect the D+/D- lines to both the CPU and charger.  Others use a USB switch like is shown in the BQ25890EVM.

    Regards,
