Hi, my customer is about to use this device to make 12V/9A pack bms, curent the challenges are:

1. They plan to use 9 packs in parallel, and use external MCU to communicate, how to realize this communication simutaneously?

2. SInce the paralleled packs may have differencation on voltage, how to avoid the packs with higher voltage damaged the IC of adjacent pack.

  • 1:The bq40z50 has fixed SMBus address, but multiple bq40z50 on same SMBus should be possible, an I2C level shifter would work for this purpose, like PCA9306 with En pin controlled by the signal from MCU

    2: The CHG and DSG FETs can be controlled individually by the SMBus command from the host, if the voltage varies too much, the related FET can be turned off by FET control command
