bq24610 EVM ac adapter question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610

Hi I'm working with a bq24610 EVM, and have a quick question. A colleague and I are having a dispute over how the board is powered. J1 has jacks labeled as ACPWR and PGND on the board, which I think is causing the confusion. But the board is run off DC power, correct?

Looking at the board schematic, what exactly is the circuitry (the part with FETs: Q1 and Q2) connected to ACPWR doing?

  • Some EVMs call input as ACPWR before because some chargers get power from a wall adaptor. We also think it may csuse a confusion. So, every new EVM call input as DCIN from the middle of last year.

Q1 is reverse blocking FET. When it is turned off, there is no reverse current flowing from a battery to its input source.

Q2 controls the inrush current. In general, there is a lot of sys capacitor on sys bus. Adjusting Q2 turn-on speed can adjust the inrush current.
