BQ27421-G1: SOC without a learning cycle

Part Number: BQ27421-G1

We are trying to get a quick SOC without performing a learning cycle on these batteries. If we power on the device, perform the CFG Update of the Capacity, Energy, Termination voltage, and taper current. Then attach a fully charged battery pack, how long will it take before the system can report SOC?

I understand the SOC will be more accurate after a learning cycle with the pack, but we need to do this for a short demonstration and will perform this learning cycle at a later date.

I've seen in another post:

"charge the cells to full, rest for 2 hours, discharge to empty using c/7 rate, rest 5 hourss, charge to full, rest 2 hours and dishcarge to empty and rest 5 hours."

Charge to full - Ok

Rest -- Not sure what this means

Discharge -- Our rate is C/14 to C/28 is this ok?

Rest -- Again what does this mean

Charge to full  -- ok

Discharge to empty --- This is the issue, we don't have 14-28 hours at this point.

Thanks!
