[FAQ] TPS7A4501-SP: Output overshoot issues

Part Number: TPS7A4501-SP

Hello team,

My customer is using TPS7A4501-SP in their design and is experiencing overshoot voltage output issues when releasing the part from shutdown.  I have schematics and scopeshots I can send via email.

Thank you in advance for you support!

  • Posting resolution for posterity.

It was determined that an extremely long transition time of SHDN can cause the overshoot to occur.

The datasheet will be going through a revision in the near future, and there will be information added to identify this.

The circuit used an RC delay to inhibit turning on the LDO with pullup on SHDN.  The turn on delay was in the order of multiple ms.

It would be recommended to use a Schmidt trigger if the SHDN is being driven by a slow rise time signal.
