Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53355,
Dear Team,
May I double-check with you both of the TPS53353 and TPS53355 output current will drop at 18A during 85dC ambient?
Why TPS53355 don't have higher output current during 85dC?

Kevin

Hi Kevin,
If you look at the charts, the TPS53353 is for 20A on x-axis and TPS53355 is for 30A on x-axis. Both of them are exhibiting similar behavior. Just that when you have 200 LFM or 400LFM of airflow, you will be able to go upto higher currents even at 85degC.

Gerold
Kevin,
These are the safe operating area for the part to limit the die temperature to 125C or less. The output current does not "drop" at high temperature, but operating the part at high temperature and high load current will cause the device to overheat.
The TPS53355's recommended maximum load current at 85C ambient is limited by the 40C maximum die temperature rise, which is similar to the TPS53353 under these conditions.
