LM5116: Startup when power is supplied to VCCX pin from outside

Part Number: LM5116
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL431

Hi,

I have a question about what external power is supplied from VCCX on the LM5116 device.
The output voltage of the circuit is 17V. The voltage is reduced to 8V by an external circuit and supplied to VCCX.
The waveform at startup is shown below.
Looking at the VCC waveform, a voltage drop occurs when switching from the internal regulator to the external regulator.
Do you know what is causing this voltage drop?
1uF x 2 is placed immediately near the VCCX pin, and 1uF is placed near the VCC pin.
Can the voltage drop be reduced by increasing the capacitance of these capacitors?
Is there a capacity limit for capacitors?
Best regards,
  • Hi

can you tried VCC directly by external power see any dip. Increasing the vccx capacitance will be helpful. In you circuit, you used TL431 with NPN as close loop LDO. the loop's response time for IVcc change may be slow which make the voltage dip.

    Thanks
