recommendation for lithium ion battery pack ic charger

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25616, BQ25611, BQ25887, BQ25713

hii , i need a recommendation for an lithium ion  battery pack charger IC, my BAT pack with voltage of 3.7 volts and capacity of around 3 up to 5 AH

i need at the same time to be able to charge my battery pack and drive a system from the battery pack through your charger IC .

my input voltage to the charger IC can be up to 6 volts

my system needs about up to 3 amps and operates with a voltage of 3.7

  • Hi AIED,

Since we do not make battery packs, we typically do not recommend battery packs.  Tenergy makes several packs of different shapes and capacities.

For charging, I can recommend the BQ25616 3-A standalone charger or the 3-A BQ25611 I2C register charger if you have a host processor.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • hii , thanks for your reply can you recommend me a chip whit 2 cell li-ion charger that can do a balancing between cells

and another chip that can charge up to 4 cells with aballancing between cells

  • Hi AIED,

For 2 series cells and input voltage <= 6V, you can use BQ25887 host controlled boosting charger IC with integrated passive cell balancing.

For 4 series cells and low input voltage, I can recommend BQ25713 buck-boost charger with external FETs.  You will need a separate cell balancing IC.  I am not an expert on cell balancing ICs so I suggest submitting another post asking about a 4 cell LiIon cell balancer.  Many of they balancers are also protectors.

    Regards,

    Jeff
