Switching Buck charger with the power path management

Hi,

I'm looking for a Switching Buck charger with power path management (preferably integrated MOSFET for the path management) similar to MP2617/BQ24266(standalone).

Input 5V-12V, Battery 4.2V, I charge max of 2-2.5A, Load peak current 2A (pulse).

VIN-Charger(IC)-Battery-FGauge- Buck-Boost Regulator(3.8V Output, VIN max 5.5)

Input can be either 5V / 12V.

Does BQ25616 supports external power input?

May I know what'll be SYS voltage when the battery is removed, Input source is 5V or 12V.

Hi Lakshminarayana,

Yes, BQ25616 supports 5V and 12V input. MINSYS voltage will no battery applied and charge disabled is 3.65V typical.

" The safety timer is 2 hours when the battery is below VBATLOWV threshold and 10 hours when the battery is higher than VBATLOWV "Could you please comment on this what actually meant here?

During "System Over-Current Protection" enters into sleep mode? (charger will latch off Q4 and put the device into ship mode.)

Hi Lakshminarayana,

In precharge [V(BAT)<VBAT_LOWV], the safety timer is 2 hours. In fast charge, the safety timer is 10 hours. The safety timer prevents prolonged charging of a damaged battery.

In system over-current, as measured by current from battery through Q4, the charger turns off Q4 to prevent damage to the battery and charger. It is possible the battery pack protector will open before the charger turns on Q4.
