LM25066: current limit and circuit breaker difference

Hi,

customer have question about the difference between current limit and circuit breaker.

they need to set bus overcurrent production, once over current, turn off the MOS, if the current go to normal, turn on the MOS.

my understaning is the current limit is to limit current, can't off output, right?

I recommend customer use circuit breaker as OCP threshold, could you help double confrim and give your suggestion?

    Hi Betty,

    Current limit is the value to which the Hotswap controller limits the current during startup by controlling the Gate of the FET.

    During steady state, if the load current value goes above the set current limit (but less than the circuit breaker threshold), the hotswap allows the current to pass for the timer duration and then turns OFF the FET.

    If the load current goes above Circuit breaker threshold, the FET's are turned OFF immediately.
