I am wondering which types of failures modes this part have? I.e. Could one single point failure within the part short the input supply to the output ?

Jan,

We do not have in-depth FMEA on potential internal failure modes.

It is conceivable that a failure on signal or node controlling the output FET could short and connect VIN to VOUT.

However there is no known case of this being analyzed on a returned device for failure analysis.
