LM3410: 6 LEDs efficiency

Part Number: LM3410

Team,

My customer would like to estimate LM3410X efficiency when driving 6 LEDs in series. We did not see webench simulation available for this device. Would you please provide the efficiency data with the following condition? Thank you.

Input voltage: 5V

Output voltage: 6*1.58V=9.48V

Output current: 350mA

Best regards,

Andy Chu

  • Hello Andy,

Using the EVM, LM3410X Boost LED Driver Evaluation Board, 190mA, Overvoltage Protection, 4 Series LEDs, as the closest data with 4 leds at 190 mA, there is a graph, Figure 4, showing 90% efficiency.  The EVM is lower current and higher output voltage, approximately 12V output.  If the design is done well the efficiency should be close to this, possible slightly lower due to a lower output voltage.  I would expect to be able to get to about 87 to 90% at 5V input provided the design is optimal.

    Best Regards,
