BQ25896: Standalone 5V output

Part Number: BQ25896
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ21061, , BQ25606

Hi,

Could you recommend proper device?

The requirements are as below.

5V, 2A charging

5V, 100mA and 3.3V, 300mA output

Standalone

During the charging, output is enabled.

If output can't be enabled, output is automatically disabled when charging is enabled.

BQ21061 has LDO port but it is controlled by I2C.

For BQ25896, it seems to be realized with 3.3V LDO.

1. When USB is connected and VIN is 5V, is OTG output disabled automatically?

2. For 5V output, can PMID pin be used or VBUS?

3. Is there any other recommendation?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

    1. Referring to 8.2.5 Boost Mode Operation from Battery on the d/s, OTG will not be enabled if VBUS is greater than BAT+VSLEEP.

    2. PMID is boost mode output.

    3. BQ25606 is a Standalone 3.0-A Single Cell Battery Charger.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
