TPS40120 resetting

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210, INA213, TPS40120

Hi

I'm using the TPS40210 as a boost converter. Actually, I'm working on an unmodified 40120EVM board atm.

I need to dynamically adjust the output slightly and my plan was to inject a +/- 700mV voltage to the FB pin (from an INA213 current monitor). The plan was to keep the feedback resistors in place, as the signal from the current monitor will be interrupted frequently.

However, the TPS40120 starts resetting when I connect the INA213 output. Is the above not a valid approach? It feels like I'm overlooking something basic here...

  • Morten,

Without seeing your full schematic, it's hard to say whether what you're doing is alright or not.  The ouptut voltage set-point can be dynamically changed, however there are limitations.  It's possible that you're changing the FB voltage too fast and the converter is trying to charge the ouptut capacitor faster than it is able, which triggers over-current protection and initiates hiccup.

Could you share the schematic or partial schematic of your injection circuit?
