BQ24715: PCB design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77915, BQ24715

Hi,

I am using BQ77915 and BQ24715 as bms and charger respectively.

For doing the PCB design, is it recommended to have 2 isolated boards for both the design or is it okay if we have both the design on the same board?

Which one is recommended?

Thankyou

Warm regards

Harini Krishna

  • Hi Harini,

From the protector standpoint it should not matter if the parts are on the same board or differrent.  Direct the current properly and avoid crosstalk on signals and it should work fine. If desired you can isolate the 2 circuits on the same PCB.

  • Hi Harini,

From the charger standpoint, I also agree that it should be fine to have both the charger and the protector on the same PCB. However, as best practice, I would still recommend following the layout guidelines in Section 11 of the BQ24715 datasheet as closely as possible.

    Best regards,
