BQ78PL114 chemistry files

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL116, BQWIZARD

1) Hi, for a high discharge application, can TI recommend the closest .chem file, or provide an updated .chem file, for high rate LiPo cells such as Hyperion EX packs. These are 45C discharge, 5AH cells.

2) Can TI analyse cells and provide .chem files, if so what is the procedure and delay?

3) Can the end customer analyse cells and create a .chem file, if so, what is the procedure?

4) Does the pack configuration affect the .chem file, eg can a cell be characterised once then used for several pack configurations?

Same applies for BQ78PL116, of course.

Thanks

    1. Open the bqWizard 3.0.16 demo.  Under File >> Load Chemistry Data.  There is the listing of Chemistry Files.  The listing is as of around December of 2010.  Look for a similar cell type to Hyperion EX.
    2. Yes, Multi-Cell BMS Apps Engineering in Dallas, TX can assist.  Lead times can be as long as five weeks.
    3. I believe that the bqEasy software has a method to match cells to the closest chemistry.
    4. The .chem file is independent of pack configuration.  An Auxiliary Chemistry File is REQUIRED for each pack configuration and design.  See SLUA505b.
  • Thanks Jim,

could you please drop me an email describing

       a) the business metrics to justify cell analysis,

       b) the Avnet / TI admin required

       c) the logistics of getting cells to the lab.

       d) costs involved for the end customer

My email address is  andrew dot metcalfe at avnet dot com

    cheers,

    Andrew

  • Jim,

BMS Apps Engineering in Dallas, TX is mentioned both here and in the '114 datasheet.  However I cannot find any contact information on the web for this department.  Can you provide contact info?

    Thanks you,
