BQ24230: CHG led blinking

Hello,

we have the BQ24230 on our board to recharge a battery, after sometime the CHG led from steady on state starts blinking, but the datasheet says only that it should be either on or off. If we disconnect and reconnect the power while blinking it goes back to on mode, but eventually goes back blinking.

Any possible explanation?

Hi Francesco,

The /CHG LED can begin to flash or flicker due to a timer fault when the precharge timer expires or if the battery current does not fall to ITERM before the fast charge timer expires.

You can find this in Table 4 (/CHG Status Indicator) or section 8.4.1.6.1 (Timer Fault) of the datasheet .
