Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2061C
Hi,
I am considering using the LMZM23600 to supply power for our host USB port, but I want to sanity check this.
As I understand it the LMZM23600 can
- Switch 24V to 5V (we have a 24V system)
- Supply 500mA
- Has over current protection with a power good output,
- Has an enable pin which the USB peripheral could use to enable/disable VBUS
- Soft start to reduce inrush charging the bulk USB capacitance
- Max output capacitance of 220uF which is >the 120uF requirements of USB
It seems that the LMZM23600 can perform all the tasks a smart USB power control IC (such as TPS2061C) does.
The 5V supply is only used by one USB port in the system. Is there anything I'm not considering that would make this a bad idea?
Cheers,
Rowan
