BQ25703A: BQ25703 quiescent current Mode

Part Number: BQ25703A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703

Hi Sir,

Pls kindly help for below questions about power mode , thanks.

1. under REG0x01[7] =1,REG0x31[6:5] write 01 or 10 are means REGN off,why have current difference? Low power mode is REG0x31[6:5] write 00?

2. Wat means when REG0x31[4] write 0 and 1?

3. Only Battery default is low power mode (REG0x01[7] = 1),will back to performance mode when write (REG0x01[7] = 0)?

4. Only Battery but system turn off(SOC not work),will BQ25703 back to low power mode?

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hey Ian,

For 1. REG0x01[7] = 1 is low power mode which disables the REGN rail in battery only mode. This also disables most other features like /PROCHOT, IBAT, PSYS, outputs, and the independent comparator, for example.

REG0x31[6:5] enables you, in low power mode, to use a limited version of the /PROCHOT feature. You can read the register description in the datasheet. Using this feature in low power mode increases the current consumption.

For 2. Please refer to that bit description in section 8.6.1.2 ChargeOption1 Register (I2C address = 31/30h) [reset = 211h]

For 3. That is correct. Default is Low Power Mode enabled.

For 4. Low Power Mode is enabled by default. However, if the system programs into performance mode, this bit will not change until the host SoC sets the bit back to enable low power mode.

    Regards,
