Hi all,

I am using the BQ28Z610EVM-532 with bqstudio to do a charge-discharge cycle for GPC tool. Everything was working fine until after I left the batteries relax overnight, now I cannot toggle the DSG and CHG FET (I checked and the voltage at the DSG and CHG pins are 0 the whole time, but I can still see the chip on bqstudio dashboard). I notice that if I use 2 batteries in series then it works again. Does anyone have any idea what causes the problem?

Also another question not related to this: In the EVM, I supposed to press the button to wake up the chip (although most of the time if I connect a load to PACK+ and PACK-, it will draw enough current that drops the voltage of PACK pin so low and the chip cannot be woken up). How can I wake up the chip in custom application? I don't see any switch in the suggested application in the BQ28z610 datasheet.

I think the bq28z610 probably went into shutdown mode. You need to adjust your configuration. Can you share with us your gg file or srec file? I will take a look.

I attached the chip memory above. The website gives me an error whenever I attach the .srec file so I modified its name from .srec to .txt.

Also do you know the answer for me second question, about the necessity of a switch to short the 2 protection FETs to turn on the chip in custom application?

Have you taken a look at the srec file? I am still unable to control the FETs when using just 1 battery.

Ok so now after re-test, I can control the CHG FET but not DSG FET. When I sent DSG_FET_TOGGLE command, only DSG_TESTING bit changes, the DSG bit remains low. Attached is my screenshot of the registers after I sent DSG_FET_TOGGLE command.

I found the problem. I need to change DA Configuration[CC0] to 0 for 1s1p battery.
