TPS82150: safe to connect PG to a 5V rail that is powered when the TPS82150 is not?

Part Number: TPS82150
I think this is ok because datasheet says up to 7V absolute max. without any parametric dependence on VIN, and section 7.4.4 of the datasheet says that PG goes high impedance withe VIN
  • My original post got truncated somehow, here is the intended content: I think this is ok because datasheet says up to 7V absolute max. without any parametric dependence on VIN, and section 7.4.4 of the datasheet says that PG goes high impedance withe VIN
  • Ok third try. Btw these forums are worse than most for mangling formatting and other weird stuff. I think this is ok because datasheet says up to 7V absolute max. without any parametric dependence on VIN, and section 7.4.4 of the datasheet says that PG goes high impedance withe VIN less than 0.7V (power supply removal). However I'm paranoid about driving any chip with it's power supply removed and all the examples show PG pulled up to the TPS82150 output itself. So iss it safe to pull up PG to an external 5V rail that is on when the chip is not?
  • Hi Britton,

Yes, it is fine to pull up PG to an external 5V that is on even when the chip is not powered on.
