BQ25895: NTC Warm fault

Part Number: BQ25895

I'm trying to make my own charger for a Li-ion battery pack, and I'm having a problem with the NTC Fault showing Warm in Battery Management Studio when a USB 5V supply is applied.  I intend to use a battery fuel gauge along with the bq25895M, so I just have 2 10K resistors creating a divider between REGN - TS - GND.  I measure 2.5V at the TS input and 5V at REGN, but the chip seems to think the NTC is warm, and I suspect that is the reason it does not charge.  What to do?

  • Hi Paul,

The ADC is measuring a TS percentage of 21% so the chip thinks TS is not at 50% of REGN.  When you measure the TS voltage, are you measuring at the IC?

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Jeff,

Actually, I measured across the resistor since the package is so small.  I was hoping there was something obvious in the register data that I just didn't know how to read.  I touched up the solder joint on this hand made board, and now it is working!  Sorry, I didn't know how to read the screen.  There are some things I find non-intuitive.
