UCC27524: How to design a gate transformer driver circuit with UCC27524

Part Number: UCC27524
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27712, UCC5350

Dear Ti's engineer

I want to design a gate transformer driver circuit with UCC27524, the circuit is shown as follow:

Could you provided any application document to help me to calculate the value of R4, C2 and design the gate transformer

Thanks very much

  • Hi,

Welcome to e2e and thanks for your question.

Do you need the transformer for level-shifting, isolation, or both?  We have a couple solutions to replace the gate-drive transformer, giving you a smaller solution size, and increasing the reliability of your system:

If you just need it for level-shifting, I suggest you check out our UCC27712 which is a 600-V junction-isolated half-bridge driver.

If you need isolation and/or level-shifting, you could also use one of our isolated gate drivers. I would recommend you start looking at UCC5350.

If neither of these fit your needs, and you still want to use a transformer, you can find more information in this document:

See section "7 Transformer-Coupled Gate Drives" on page 38.
