LM5025: CS pin use case

Part Number: LM5025

Hello experts,

I have question for CS pin use case in datasheet.
In Figure 21, R5 is "NOT USED". It means this example use only CS2?
I'm not clear about merit of CS1/CS2/CS1 and CS2 use case.
Also, could you tell me how to select the value for RC filter?
Thanks and best regards,
Ryo Akashi
  • Hi Ryo,

CS1 is use for CBC OCP, CS2 is used for Hiccup mode protection.

The time constant of RC filter should be considerable less than the switching period of converter.

    Teng

  • Hello Teng-san,

Thank you for your reply and I'm sorry for my late reply.

I understand that CS1 is for Cycle-By-Cycle over current protection and CS2 is for Hiccup mode protection.

Let me ask about retry for CS1/CS2.

If CS1 pin detect exceeding the threshold, this IC terminates the present cycle and retry from next cycle.

If CS2 pin detect exceeding the threshold, this IC shutdown. After Thiccup, retry with soft-start sequence.

    Is it correct?

Also, thank you for advice about RC filter.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Ryo Akashi

  • Hi Ryo, yes, you are right, I am closing the thread. thank you.—— Teng
