Dear colleague,

Our customer are using two 5AH 3.8V batteries in series.

They want just to use BQ27520 to calculate 1 battery capacity and then get total capacity by multiplying by 2.

They want to know

1. This is feasible?

2. Is there any problem?

Hello Rock,

1. It is better to use bq28z610. It is not the most ideal to use a voltage divider for the bq27520-G4.

But customer used BQ27520-G4 before, so they want to continue to use it.

And high accurracy is not necessary.

So they want to know except accurracy issue, is there any other issues?

Hello Rock,

Also the fact there is no cell balancing and no individual cell measurement and no protection. I do believe bq28z610 is a better device, but if the customer really wants to use an op amp divider, that is up to them. TI recommendation is the bq28z610. It is a smaller solution size overall as well.
