BQ40Z50-R2: BQ40Z50-R2: FCC drop to 0 when charging after low temperature

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50, GPCCHEM

Hello,

I would like to add information about (but now its locked - I'm late)

This issue was setting charging current too high, way higher than what the BQ40Z50 requested. It was a software issue, as the BMON is not setting the Smart Charger directly.

I don't know if someone could re-open the old thread or add this post to it, but I think its interesting to know the root cause. Even if this is a bit strange to be able to "break" the gauging this way.

Thanks for help Steven and other !

  • Hello Emilien,

Can you check the JEITA settings and the charge settings. The bq40z50 does not influence the charging current.

However, for the drop, make sure you have a proper GPCCHEM match ID as the first step.

Make sure to successfully run a learning cycle.

Once that's done, repeat the same at the low temperature. I do encourage you to look at the charge capacity you get out of the battery as the drop to 0% may be normal if the temperature is extremely low.
