BQ25898D: About Behavior at system shorted

Part Number: BQ25898D

Hello

In e2e below, there is "the HSFET cycle by cycle protection is typically around 8.5A with a minimum of around 6.4A."
Does the inductor current (average) when SYS is short-circuited continue to flow this much?
Or will it work in Hiccup mode?

  • Hi,

    Referring to the d/s,

    9.2.15.3 System Overcurrent Protection

When the system is shorted or significantly overloaded (IBAT > IBATOP) so that its current exceeds the overcurrent

limit, the device latches off BATFET.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hello

Isn't 9.2.15.3 about supplying SYS to the battery?

What I want to know is the behavior of the inductor current when SYS is short-circuited when applying, for example, 12V, 1.5A from VBUS.

  • Hi,

The HSFET current limit is cycle-by-cycle peak-current control.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
